The Student Shorts Film Festival 2009

Student
Shorts is a Toronto-based film
festival exclusive to post secondary institutions from across Canada
and around the world.
Our aim is to provide a forum where young filmmakers can showcase their
work to their peers, the industry and the public.
We are now entering our 9th
year, and with over 400
submissions a year have become the largest festival of this kind in

Important News:
Hello,
It is with mixed emotions that we announce that after eight years we
have decided to end the Student Shorts Film Festival. It was a
fantastic experience and we have loved every minute of it but we feel
it has run its course. The festival required hundreds of hours of
volunteer work between Iain, Alex and myself. Hours which we no longer
have available. Furthermore, when we began Student Shorts it was the
only festival of its kind in North America. Since its inception, it has
spawned other student festivals, which we hope will be able to provide
a similar forum to that of SSFF.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported the festival over its
8 years of life. It would – of course – not have been
possible without your help.
We would also like to say that we are not turning our backs on film
festivals for good and would be happy to hear about opportunities
within the film festival community where we might be able to lend a
hand given our past experience with Student Shorts.
