Recap of Student Shorts 2005

Our fifth year was a defining moment in the history of the festival. With colourful new posters, an incredible ad campaign, T-Shirts, new sponsors and a venue change, Student Shorts 2005 saw the largest attendance turn out we have had to date.

Our four screenings took place at the Innis Town Hall, as people clamored for seats to be amazed by the quality of work the festival had to offer. With hundreds of submissions coming in from around the world, we certainly had a lot to choose from!

This year we had both an opening party venue and, of course, our after party and awards ceremony. The opening party turned out to be a cool little meet and greet at the Regal Beagle on Bloor, with the festival organizers handing out free drinks left, right and centre.

The after party continued its tradition of being a crazy time, as hundreds packed the gallery space of the Artword to enjoy free food, beer and tacos! With the help of some buses ferrying people from the theatre to the party, we managed to secure a truly amazing turnout for the event.

A heartfelt thanks go out to our party sponsors; Wellington Brewery, Mill Valley Water, Amato's Pizza and Mamasita's Tacos co.

This year the festival was juried by Myrocia Watamaniuk of the Worldwide Short Film Festival, Judy Gladstone of BravoFACT, Silva Basmajian of the National Film Board and renowned documentary producer Lalita Krishna. The awards were presented at the after party, and the tension in the room could be cut with a knife.
